New for 2010 … Old Favorites

Jay is currently working on a new CD called “Old Favorites.” It will include many of the old hymns set to country music as well as a number of songs previously recorded by his parents, Cal and Bonnie Witham, reworked for this new project. Release date will be announced at a later time, however, Jay is already including many of these new/old songs in his 2010 concerts.

2009 Christmas in the Country

Yes, I realize that Christmas is still 2 months away … and I hate it when the retail stores begin promoting Christmas sales before Thanksgiving is even over. But it’s not too soon to plan for a Christmas program at your church … as a matter of fact, there’s not much time left.

As a pastor, I often found it frustrating to plan Christmas programs or parties for the church. To whom do you turn to find Christmas entertainment? Most of the people I know in Gospel music have a very limited repertoire of Christmas songs.

And as a Gospel singer, I realize that there are very few places to perform my regular songs during the Christmas season.

So God has laid it on my heart to put together a whole evening concert of Christmas music. It’s a wonderful variety of music ranging from Southern Gospel songs like “Mary Was the First One to Carry the Gospel” to traditional standards like “I’ll Be Home for Christmas”, “Silent Night” or “Away in a Manger”. I will also perform some old favorites including a song I wrote with my grandaughter, Rachel, called “Christmas in the Country.” It’s a whole evening of Christmas entertainment with a Country Gospel flair and an emphasis on the Reason for the Season … the Lord Jesus Christ!

It would be perfect for any regular church service or for a special evening event any night of the week. Call me soon to reserve a date … there are only a limited number open for the Christmas season.

New CD coming Summer ’09

Jay is currently in the studio recording another CD which will have a summer 2009 release. The title song, I Have a Bridge, and 11 more great gospel songs will be included in this new project. Jay will continue with his “country flavor” of gospel music but has also included some “not so country” songs on this album. A few of the songs are recorded using a full orchestra sound with a heavy emphasis on strings, and one song features a smooth saxaphone. Check back on the website for more details as the CD release gets closer.

Shekinah Farm Sold

As we continue to follow the Lord we have found many doors opening … and other doors are closing. Last November we placed our family farm on the market, fully understanding that it would take a miracle to sell it in this economy. Not only did the Lord provide a buyer but it was CASH deal. Yes, we do serve a God of miracles!

So, what do we do now? It was our desire in selling the farm to free up time and resources to further pursue our ministry of gospel music and the itinerant preaching/teaching of God’s Word. Now we are free to travel and accomplish that! You will see more changes on the website as we focus more on the music/preaching/teaching and eliminate the retreats here at Shekinah Farm. Please keep us in prayer as we continue to follow His leading.

Cap’n Jack is our new Jack Russel Terrier (seen here on his first day at his new home). And, yes, he lives up to his name. Cap’n Jack Sparrow is the infamous captain of the Black Pearl in “Pirates of the Caribbean.”

Bible Adventures Retreats

Bible Adventures Boot Camp: A four day men’s event based on John Eldredge’s Wild at Heart. Taught by Jay Witham at Shekinah Farm in Cambridge, NY. Primary Objective: To restore the hearts of men through a real encounter with God leading to irreversible change.

A Work in Progress

We are constantly adding new features to the Bible Adventures website. Included in the updates today are; 1) The Bible Adventures Prospectus offered in pdf to give my readers a more accurate picture of what the ministry of Bible Adventures is all about. The ups and down, the victories and near defeat. It also outlines our passion and vision for this ministry to help enlist an army of prayer warriors to our aid. There are physical needs too. One great man of faith said that his philosophy was, “Ask God and tell the people.” 2) A Printable Concert Poster which you will find listed under “Resourses“. Just click and open in pdf then you can save it to your computer and if you have MS Word you can make changes to the poster to make it more specific to your venue. You can print as many as you need to promote your concert. 3.) The CD Page has been updated with two additional CDs available. Also, I will be adding 4) blog posts to this site on at least a weekly basis so check back often and see what’s going on.
